24392_1112174260750_2003670_nEaster Bunny cake has become quite popular amongst kids and adults. Not only do they look forward to the Easter egg hunts, but they look forward to the cute cakes. There are many cakes you can make, but there are a few of them that are more popular with the kids. In this post, I will walk you through the steps of making the Easter Bunny cake the easy way.

How to Make an Easter Bunny Cake

The Easter Bunny cake is the most popular cake made for this holiday when it comes to the kids. The kids absolutely love to eat this cake and it is also a great cake to make every Easter with your kids to start a family tradition.

What you will need:

  • Cake Mix
  • Two Containers of White Icing
  • Food Coloring
  • Two 8 or 9in pans
  • Cardboard
  • Jellybeans
  • Coconut

Preparing the Icing and Cardboard

Bake your cake as you normally would, but split the cake mix evenly between the two pans. Prepare your icing with food coloring. You can create whatever color bunny you want. Put a third of the icing in a bowl and change it to another color. The third of the icing will be for the bow tie. You will also need a piece of sturdy cardboard that will hold the cake. The cake will be about 20in or so. You will need cardboard a little bit longer than that so you can place your grass on it. It’s also a good idea to wrap the cardboard with tin foil.

Preparing the Easter Bunny Cake

easter-bunny-cake-pattern.gif 231×299Once the cake is done, you will need to take it out and let it cool off. Once it is cool, use one layer for the ears and bow tie. You will need to cut two oval shapes for the ears and that will leave you a bow tie in the middle. Place the full layer on the cardboard and place the ears on top of the head. If you want to make the ears fit snug to the bunnies head, you will need to trim the ears in a half circle so they will fit. Place the bow tie at the bottom of the bunny’s head. Refer to the image if I lost you at this part.

Icing the Easter Bunny Cake

Now you are ready to begin icing the cake. Ice the ears and head the color you chose. Then ice the bow tie another color. You can create patterns using different colors for the tie. That is completely up to you. Experimenting is a lot of fun.

Adding the Grass to the Cake

You are now ready to make the grass for the cake and add it. Use a bowl and pour your coconut in it. Add drops of green food coloring and stir the coconut. Add as much food coloring as you need to get the color grass you want. When you are ready, you will need to spread the coconut around the bunny. This will give it the grass look.

Adding the Jellybeans to the Easter Bunny Cake

Now you are ready to add the jellybeans to the cake. You can outline the bunny with the jellybeans and you can fill the bunny’s ears with pink jellybeans. You can also make the bunny’s eyes, nose, and mouth with the jellybeans. I like to place the jellybeans around the bottom of the bunny where the grass is and I also like to outline the top of the bunny with jellybeans.

You will find that there are many different ways to make the Easter Bunny cake and many different things you can use. To get an idea of other cakes, search “Easter Bunny Cake” in the search engine of your preference and view the images. There are so many neat things you can do with this cake and it is always a hit with the little kids. Shucks, adults go fool over this cake too. My favorite cake and icing for this cake is devil food chocolate cake mix topped with a cream cheese icing. Along with the coconut and jellybeans, it all mixes real well. The flavors seem to go together nicely and complement each other. If you are like me, you will probably have more fun than the kids when it comes to making this cake. I always seem to enjoy it more than my kids, but it is the memories that mean the most.
